Faculty Member at the University of Tabriz Won the "Distinguished Young Assistant Professor " Award

According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Tabriz, Dr. Behnam Khorrami, a faculty member in the Department of Remote Sensing and GIS at the Faculty of Planning and Environmental Sciences, has been selected as a recipient of the Distinguished Young Assistant Professor Award by the National Elite Foundation of Iran.

Dr. Khorrami earned his Ph.D. from Dokuz Eylul University in Türkiye and has achieved numerous notable distinctions throughout his academic and research career. Among his most significant accomplishments are receiving the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award 2022 from the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS), being awarded the prestigious TUM Global Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany, authoring some of the most highly cited publications by Wiley over two consecutive years, and attaining the highest academic rankings throughout his undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies.

In addition to these achievements, Dr. Khorrami has actively participated in several externally funded research projects and has received numerous academic honors during his studies. He has published more than 35 scientific papers in leading international journals, many of which have appeared in first-quartile (Q1) and second-quartile (Q2) journals. His research has attracted more than 1,170 citations to date, and his H-index has reached 21, reflecting the significant scientific impact and international recognition of his work.

According to the report, the National Elite Foundation of Iran implements the “Dr. Kazemi Ashtiani Program” with the objective of identifying, supporting, and empowering outstanding young assistant professors at universities and higher education institutions across the country. Recipients of this prestigious award are selected through a rigorous evaluation process conducted by specialized scientific committees and expert panels of the Foundation.
