Connecting the University of Tabriz with international universities through the ERASMUS Plus program
Between April 8-14, 2024, the first mobilities took place within the project 2023-1-RO01-KA171-HED-000129500, financed by the ERASMUS Plus program, which aims to strengthen relations between the University of Tabriz, the University of Bucharest, and Jiao Tong University in Shanghai (located in the top 50 globally) in the fields of Geography and Environmental Science.
On behalf of the University of Tabriz, the coordinator responsible is Professor Akbar Rahimi, the teaching staff at the Faculty of Planning and Environmental Sciences, and from the partner institutions, Professor Cristian Ioja (University of Bucharest) and Prof. Univ. Dr. Junxiang Li. At the activities, they also attended Professor Jurgen Breuste, Professor Honoris Causa of UB and President of the Society for Urban Ecology, Professor Cigdem Coșkun Hepcan and Professor Şerif Hepcan, Ege University of Izmir, Professor Meryem Hayir Kanat, Yildiz Technical University of Istanbul.
The teaching activities occurred at the Faculty of Planning and Environmental Sciences and the Cumpătu Zoo in Sinaia with 52 master's and bachelor's students. The activities included interactive courses related to Spatial Planning in Iran, China, Romania, and Turkey and presentations related to urban ecology.

The activities carried out during the first mobilities were appreciated by both the participating students and the participating teachers.
 
The theme of the project, in the field of urban ecology
The project, which takes place during the 2023-2024 academic year, includes one outgoing mobility for the University of Bucharest for teaching staff, one incoming mobility for teaching staff from Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, the University of Tabriz, and one mobility for students from the University of Tabriz.
 
The project's theme is urban ecology. The main goal is to improve understanding of the environmental challenges faced by cities and raise awareness of solutions that can be adapted to different biophysical and socioeconomic contexts.
 
The mobilities, carried out by  Prof. Dr. Akbar Rahimi, included direct and online didactic activities (for undergraduate students), participation in the SURE workshop - Challenges in societal sharing of urban ecology research (for master's program students), joint scientific research planning activities - scientific articles and participation in scientific events, field activities (thematic visits to the city of Bucharest, the city of Sinaia and the city of Băile Tușnad), administrative activities related to the implementation of the ERASMUS project, as well as the organization of dissemination activities.
